Position Overview:

The Assistant Director of Assessment and Review is responsible for the oversight of the Assessment Team and the Senior Clinical Review Team.

This position requires fundamental and evolving knowledge and skills in general psychometric assessment, forensic assessment, hands-on learning and training, and the development and demonstration of assessment and treatment competencies in the correctional setting. It also requires establishing and fostering working relationships with colleagues, inmates, and correctional partners, that value the knowledge and experience of others and model conscientiousness and professionalism. The Assistant Director of Assessment and Review provides clinical and administrative supervision to clinical staff and trainees.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Participate in review boards, including regular oversight and participation in the Senior Clinical Review Team (SCRT) and Mental Health Triage meetings;
  • Maintain assessment database, files and records;
  • Daily attendance and monthly Performance Ratings on IMS, if required;
  • Oversee and provide administration and review of assessments of inmates;
  • Document all clinical and collateral contact notes in a timely manner;
  • Supervise phallometric assessments for inmates;
  • Oversee the scheduling of assessments, their timely completion and accuracy of content;
  • Provide direct clinical service and engage in a range of therapeutic and assessment interventions as needed;
  • Coordinate and conduct training/presentations related to the sex offender treatment program for program staff, DOC personnel, and other agencies requested by the DOC;
  • Attend staff meetings, in-service trainings, case conferences and supervision meetings;
  • Provide weekly licensure supervision to staff seeking to obtain licenses;
  • Attend weekly administrative/supervisory meetings as required;
  • Coordinate activities and unit issues with DOC personnel;
  • Attend DOC meetings as required;
  • Complete all written documentation in a timely manner;
  • Comply with all Department of Correction and CPC/CCS policies, procedures and guidelines;
  • Participate in the hiring, training, counseling, and termination of clinical staff; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Non-essential Job Functions:

  • Monitor, assess and coach staff on clinically related procedures, recommending training or education as needed;
  • Promote preventative and mental health maintenance care, including positive health behaviors and self-care skills through education and counseling;
  • Inform Program Director about possible areas for professional growth or program improvement;
  • Submit proof of ongoing license renewal and continuing education certificates to designated agency personnel;
  • Maintain membership with a professional organization and attend professional conferences to keep appraised of advances in the field;
  • Employee may be required to perform other related duties to meet needs of the patient, program, CPC/CCS or client; and
  • Ensure professionalism, which includes prompt return of calls and being timely and present for appointments, and respectful interactions with others.

Requirements:

  • Doctorate in Psychology or related field;
  • An active Massachusetts professional license in good standing, or licensable within three months;
  • A minimum of three years of experience conducting psycho-sexual evaluations, including the administration and interpretation of assessment instruments and formulating an integrated report;
  • Experience providing clinical assessment and treatment to individuals who have demonstrated problems with sexually abusive behavior, substance abuse, domestic violence, or other general mental health issues;
  • Prior supervisory and administrative experience, preferred;
  • Training in the administration of various actuarial and dynamic risk assessments, psychological assessments, personality assessments, physiological assessments, and cognitive assessments;
  • Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail;
  • Ability to work independently and with a team;
  • Commitment to professional growth and development;
  • Knowledge of and commitment to evidence-based assessment and treatment practices;
  • Knowledge of relevant legal standards and their applicability to assessment and supervision;
  • Proficiency in computer skills;
  • Excellent command of the English language and strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Expectation to work in an institutional setting, with strong organization skills and rigorous attention to detail;
  • Expectation to develop and maintain working interdisciplinary relationships with CPC and DOC colleagues, customers and criminal justice partners; and
  • Expectation to be on site a minimum of eight hours a day.
